Pure Shea is pure, pressed, organic shea butter.
It is called "skin food" because it provides so much nourishment to the skin. Shea butter is emollient and can be used on dry areas that are particularly prone to dryness, such as lips, hands, feet and elbows.
This shea butter comes from the "Paradoxa" and is a variant of the shea tree that grows wild in western and central Africa. It contains a large amount of saturated fatty acids and is therefore firmer in consistency. Shea butter, or Buerre de Karite as it is also called, protects against weather, wind, skin irritations, and preserves moisture in the skin.
Pure Shea is good for dry and cracked skin, small wounds, sun-damaged skin and is also good for babies, for example for massage.
Shea butter has a natural sun protection equivalent to factor 3.
The production of shea butter follows guidelines from the Union for Ethical Bio Trade. This concerns social sustainability and biodiversity.
Shea butter is called "Women's Gold" because most of its production is done by and helps women.
Social sustainability and biodiversity:
The production of our shea butter follows criteria according to the Union for Ethical Bio Trade for social sustainability and biodiversity. Shea Butter is also called "Women's Gold" thanks to the production of hundreds of thousands of women's work and increased status in society. We like It Extra.
Shea butter and grits:
Shea Butter can sometimes be experienced a bit 'grainy' (it is a granularity that melts directly on the skin though). This is because different fat molecules in the shea butter clump together differently quickly when it cools after heating. It can also be more or less grainy from the beginning, depending on the batch. With a natural, untreated shea butter, this is inevitable.
Green Gredelina's Pure Shea comes in a handy small jar that you can easily carry with you in your handbag or diaper bag.
